On Monday evening, March 11, Arizona Glass Alliance will very proudly host a presentation by MiNHi England, a fast rising young glass and mixed media artist. Utilizing the unique properties of molten glass, MiNHi personifies the material and imbues a sense of self. Her work employs reiteration and reflection to convey the intricacies of turbulent emotional patterns, the cyclical rhythms of life, and the nuances of self-awareness. As MiNHi says “When I use glass in my work, I find myself personifying the material, giving it permission to embody “self”. The unique properties of hot glass allow me to generate a sense of vitality when I force my own breath inside. This action further connects me to the process. Although I set the stage, there are moments that happen outside of my control, metaphysically illustrating the human experience.”
MiNHi’s work has been shown at the 2023 Habatat Galleries International Exhibition, she has been the featured artist in American Craft magazine and she was a featured artist in season three of “Blown Away”. An image of one of MiNHi’s pieces is shown below, and to see more of her extraordinary variety of work please take a look at her website, www.minhi.com. While you’re there be sure to check out the section on her relationship with her artistic and life partner, her late husband Jesse England, and the remarkable enterprise they built together.
