Laura Goodwin Presentation

Monday, October 23, 2017 7:30 PM Scottsdale Ranch Clubhouse 10585 N. 100th St. Scottsdale, AZ

On Monday evening, October 23, Arizona Glass Alliance will host a presentation by glass artist Laura Goodwin. Laura received her education in glass from well known schools including Southern Illinois University and the Penland School of Crafts, and went on to assistantships with world class glass masters such as Italo Scanga and Flo Perkins. Since 2000 Laura has run her own independent studio, Nambe Glass Studio in Nambe, NM (outside Santa Fe), creating wonderful objects inspired by the beauty of nature.

Laura describes herself and her work this way: “From the beginning I wanted only to be an artist. My work reflects my life. From travels to Australia where I discovered an Aboriginal vessel, the coolamon, to mushrooms in the Amazon and ripening mangoes on a farm in Peru; these works are a reflection of what I see. I would like to share my love for shape, simplicity of form and vibrant color.”

Laura goes on to say ”fruit is sensual—the shape, the contours—I love the idea of capturing that in glass.” An image of one of Laura’s current pieces is shown below, and to learn more about her and her work take a look at Globefineart.com, the website of Globe Fine Art, Laura’s Santa Fe dealer.
