On Friday evening, November 14, Marshall Gallery of downtown Scottsdale will sponsor a special presentation by glass sculptor Chad Holliday, plus a reception, for the members of Arizona Glass Alliance. Marshall will be show casing an exhibition of Chad’s work that we will be able to see that evening. Chad’s work combines the techniques of Czech Republic glass casting, where he has studied and worked with Czech masters, together with modern sensibilities.
Early in his career Chad served as artist in residence at the Grand Crystal Museum in Taipei, Taiwan. After, he was part of the original team and first studio manager that built the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. Holliday would go on to receive a Fulbright in 2007 to research the history and pedagogy of Czech glass. Since then Chad had earned the tenured rank of Associate Professor, being awarded an endowed professorship at West Texas A&M University. He has taught at Corning, the Pittsburgh Glass Center and The Glass Furnace in Istanbul. Chad now maintains his own studio in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Chad has been honored as Emerging Artist of the Year in 2009 by American Style magazine, and his work has been published in New Glass Review. Museums around the country and overseas have his work, as well as major collectors.
This will be a great opportunity to get to know Chad and his work “up close and personal”, and to enjoy a special evening with your Arizona Glass Alliance friends. An image of one of Chad’s creations is shown below.
We are grateful to Marshall Gallery for sponsoring and hosting this event. Marshall Gallery is located in the heart of old town Scottsdale at 7106 E. Main Street, and the evening will begin at 7 PM.
