On Sunday evening, in collaboration with the Sonoran Glass School of Tucson, Arizona Glass Alliance will very proudly host a presentation by the well-recognized glass artist Jason Christian. Hailing from the Seattle area, Jason brings a distinguished pedigree to his beautiful work. Jason has worked with some of the best glass artists, including Lino Tagliapietra, and currently helps create wonderful Chihuly pieces in addition to his own work, which reflects his time with the maestros as well as his own unique artistic vision.
Jason’s work has been exhibited by major galleries across the country and he has taught at all three major glass schools, Pilchuck, Penland and Pittsburgh. In addition, Jason has been artist in residence at a number of institutions such as Pilchuck, the Museum of Glass in Tacoma and Corning. His work can be found in major collections including the collection of Sir Elton John.
Jason says this about his work: “My artwork represents me as a whole. Throughout my career as a maker and artist, I have been inspired by many facets of life; that being, growing up in the Pacific Northwest, my family, and personal life experiences. Nostalgia is what inspires my most significant works. Being fueled by emotion, I don’t know precisely why I am creating a piece; I know I must. I try to interpret that feeling in my work; to have someone see it and evoke the same emotions I used to create the piece.”
An image of one of Jason’s creations is shown below and to learn more about him and see more of his work take a look at his website, www.jasonchristianglassdesigns.com.
