On Monday evening, November 16, Arizona Glass Alliance will very happily host a presentation by the very interesting glass artist Katrina Hude. Katrina, who lives in the Seattle area, has been working in glass for over 30 years since her graduation from the California College of Arts and Crafts and then San Jose State University.

Katrina’s work is both beautiful and unique, with a healthy dose of whimsy and humor, and she has been awarded a fellowship at the Creative Glass Center of America as well as being named an Emerging Artist in Residence at Pilchuck. Katrina has lectured in Japan and Australia, as well as being artist in residence at the Museum of Glass. An image of some of Katrina’s wonderful “push pins” is shown below and for more info about Katrina, as well as many more images of her wonderful work please take a look at her website, www.katrinahude.com.

Katrina describes her work this way: “Using artwork as my gesture, I hope to engage others in dialogue much like using a push pin to pin up an important thought or to preserve a basic truth. I am a symbol maker. Visual objects are my chosen language.”
