Sonja London-Hall and Warren Norgaard Presentation: Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026

On Sunday, October 11, Arizona Glass Alliance will very proudly host presentations by two of our very own Arizona Glass Alliance artists, Sonja London-Hall and Warren Norgaard. Sonja, who was the recipient of our scholarship to Pilchuck last season, will tell us all about her experience there as well as herself and her work.

Sonja is an Arizona native, born in the now ghost mining town of Ray, Arizona. Early skill in music won her a scholarship to ASU, and she has pursued a 30 year career as an artist and teacher. For the last 20 years Sonja has been creating stained glass, and she’s taught locally with Milkweed Studios as well as thousands of miles away in Italy. Sonja has been published in “Glass Art Magazine”, and she says this about her work: “My journey with glass …has been a pursuit of …the ephemeral moments of light and color that surround us. Inspiration is everywhere, residing in the quiet elegance of natural geometry and the vibrant energy of a sunset. I am …translating these moments of fleeting, organic beauty into the tangible, fluid forms of my glass art.”

Warren Norgaard, who coincidentally is also a past recipient of our Pilchuck scholarship, is not only a talented glass artist but also the owner of the very successful glass art school here in Phoenix, Milkweed Arts, which Warren founded in 2015. Since then Milkweed Arts has welcomed more than 10,000 students. Each season Warren brings leading glass artists to Phoenix to teach classes at Milkweed, and often we are able to collaborate with him to host the artists for presentations to our group while they are in town.

As a glass artist Warren began working in 1990 and since then he has explored all forms of glass as well as photography, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and poetry. Warren says his work is rooted in an ongoing curiosity about material, process, light, and the unexpected discoveries that occur when making and experimentation intersect.

This evening will be a great opportunity to get to know two of our artist members and their work, and also hear about their experiences at Pilchuck thanks to our Arizona Glass Alliance scholarship. See their work below:
