Joseph Cavalieri Presentation

January 16, 2017 7:30 PM Scottsdale Ranch Clubhouse 10585 N. 100th St. Scottsdale, AZ

On Monday evening, January 16, 2017, Arizona Glass Alliance will host a presentation by the noted New York glass artist, Joseph Cavalieri. Joseph comes from a successful career as an art director for GQ, People and Good Housekeeping magazines. He started his career as a studio artist working with glass full time in 2010. Since then he has received recognition with exhibitions all around the country as well as in Europe, and his work can be seen in such diverse locations as the permanent collection of the Museum of Arts and Design and the Italian American Museum in New York City, as well as an MTA train station commission in Westchester, New York.

Joseph combines traditional painting on glass techniques with more current methods such as silk screening and airbrushing. The finished pieces are set into wall hung light boxes with internal LED lighting. One recent work of Joseph’s titled “Helen Hayes” is shown below. Joseph describes the piece this way: “A tribute to the life of the “First Lady of American Theatre” actress Helen Hayes. She won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and a Tony Award, and is a landmark theatre on Broadway. This portrait was her role as Queen Victoria in the Broadway production “Victoria Regina in 1935.” You can view a video of the creation of this piece at https:///www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW7ccCoZqMg&t=26s. You can also see more of Joseph’s work and learn more about him at his website, www.cavaglass.com.
