Sat., October 5, 2019 Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art 7374 East Second Street Scottsdale, AZ 85251
On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Arizona Glass Alliance will sponsor an exciting event. Four glass artists whose work is included in the current “Divergent Materiality” exhibition at SMOCA, and a well known gallerist, will discuss modern art made from glass and the ways in which it is becoming increasingly relevant today. The four artists are Cassandria Blackmore, Peter Bremers, Steve Ceizki and Lucy Lyon, all of whom are nationally recognized, and the well known owner of Habatat Galleries, Corey Hampson. Following the round table discussion there will be a reception for members of Arizona Glass Alliance and other special guests of SMOCA. Full details are included in the attached announcements from Arizona Glass Alliance and SMOCA.
The event will be held at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, which is in downtown Scottsdale across the walkway from the Scottsdale Center for the Arts, and will begin at 4 PM. This will be the closing event for the Divergent Materiality exhibition, which will end on October 13. If you haven’t seen the exhibition yet, the museum will be open that day so it’s a great opportunity to see a wonderful exhibition of art made from glass drawn primarily from the collections of four members of Arizona Glass Alliance and supported by several members of the Alliance as well as the Alliance itself.
