On Monday evening, Arizona Glass Alliance will happily host a presentation by one of the most exciting younger artists working in glass today, Dylan Martinez. Dylan, whose work was shown at the recent SOFA exhibition in addition to his regular representation by Echt Galley, often delights in examining the boundaries of our perception. His work challenges the viewer’s expectations through manipulation of light, space and the optical properties of glass, and a wide and ever changing variety of forms and creations. As one mark of recognition, Dylan is a winner of the prestigious Libensky award.
Right now Dylan’s “water bags” which are totally glass (an image of one is shown below) are a “hot ticket”, and if you look at Dylan’s website, www.dylanmartinezglass.com, you’ll see that he creates a wide variety of other very intriguing and different works. Dylan in person is just as interesting as his work, and this is your chance to get to know him and his work first hand.
