As our opening event of the 2024-25 season Arizona Glass Alliance will proudly host a presentation by the very interesting glass artist, Kazuki Takizawa. Kazuki is known not only for his beautiful glass sculpture creations, but also as a spokesman for people living with bipolar disorder. Originally from Hong Kong, Kazuki obtained his BFA from the University of Hawaii in 2010 and now maintains his own studio practice in Los Angeles. His work has been shown at several galleries across the country, including Duncan McClellan’s gallery in St. Petersburg, and he has taught and/or led workshops at Penland, Pilchuck and Urban Glass in New York.

Kazuki describes himself this way: “As an artist who lives with bipolar disorder, Kazuki Takizawa crafts elaborate vessels and installations, each with a unique story. Universally rooted in a dialogue around mental health, his work examines broad themes such as attaining minimalism among chaos as well as his personal narratives around the topic of living with bipolar disorder and suicide prevention. Takizawa has traveled to numerous communities in and outside the US to share his work and act as an advocate for mental illness.”

An image of one of Kazuki’s beautiful creations is shown below, and to see more of his work please take a look at his website, www.kazukitakizawa.com.

Start the new season off right by joining your Arizona Glass Alliance friends at what promises to be a very interesting evening.
