AACG Winter Newsletter

We recently submitted an article to the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass for their newsletter. Here is a summary of our 2022-2023 Season:

Arizona Glass Alliance began our 2022-23 season in October with a fascinating presentation by Natalie Tyler. Natalie, who is presently artist in residence at Chesterwood, took us on a journey through her artistic development as well as her current installations. Natalie is all about nature and we saw it in her work. In addition, we all enjoyed the opportunity to just be with each other after the long Covid absence.

In November we held a very special event at which three of our artist members, Bandhu Dunham, Pat Isaacson and Austin Littenberg, each gave a presentation about themselves and their work. Even though the three artists had been chosen randomly from among those of our artist members who had applied, by happenstance we had three very different artists as Bandhu is a leading flame worker, Pat does fused and slumped glass and Austin creates wonderful blown work. Everyone enjoyed getting to know these three member artists better and we’ll do more in the future.

In December Carrie Iverson, who is a leading edge mixed media artist, will be doing a presentation to our group, thanks to the fact that Warren Norgaard, who runs Milkweed Studio, is bringing her to Phoenix. We’ll also enjoy a light supper at that event.

We’ll start off the new year with a tour of four of our members’ collections (always a popular event), and follow with more programming for the balance of the season. As always, if you happen to be in the Phoenix area during the coming months please contact us—we’re happy to have you join us as a guest.
