Chris Taylor and Warren Norgaard Presentation

Monday, Nov. 18, 2019 7:30 PM Scottsdale Ranch Clubhouse 10585 N. 100th St. Scottsdale, AZ

On Monday evening, November 18, Arizona Glass Alliance will very proudly host presentations by Chris Taylor, the Executive Director of the Pilchuck Glass School, and Warren Norgaard, one of our member artists and owner of Milkweed Studio and the recipient of the first ever Arizona Glass Alliance scholarship to Pilchuck.

Chris Taylor has served as Executive Director of Pilchuck since 2018, where he has focused on community relations and staff restructuring. Pilchuck has adopted a new strategic plan in preparation for its’ upcoming 50th anniversary in 2021, and Chris is a key player in that effort. Prior to Pilchuck Chris was President of The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, and earlier he was Executive Director of the Holter Museum. Chris has also run his own arts consulting business, and holds a BFA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. Chris will be updating us all on the exciting new developments at Pilchuck, and what we can expect in the future.

Warren Norgaard is a multi-discipline artist whose focus is fused and cast glass. Warren’s work has been shown and collected internationally, and he has a special interest in mandalas, which has lead him to develop a method to create these intricate designs in glass. In 2015 Warren opened Milkweed Arts here in Phoenix, which offers classes in stained glass, fused glass, silk dyeing, wood turning and metals. As the recipient of the Arizona Glass Alliance Pilchuck scholarship Warren attended an intensive course on installations taught by Silvia Levenson (who spoke to our group last season), and he’ll tell us all about it.

This should be a great evening to learn about Pilchuck both from a leadership point of view as well as a student’s perspective, and an opportunity to get to know two interesting people.
